The past year has seen the legal community pivot in all sorts of ways.  Due to the COVID crisis, live in-person Continuing Legal Education (CLE) events and conferences have all been canceled.  Fortunately, there are numerous virtual options available to attorneys to earn CLE credits, including offerings from state bar associations, West LegalEd Center, National Business Institute, LexisNexis CLE On-Demand, membership law libraries such as the Social Law Library, Jenkins Law Library, etc.   

As many law librarians and information professionals are responsible for coordinating, managing, and promoting CLE for their firms, we’ve highlighted some of the leading online on-demand CLE options that are easy to manage for attorneys and law librarians alike. 

CLE Marketplace- American Bar Association 

Their online CLE programs enable attorneys to access both live and recorded CLE from their collection of more than 1,500 titles. All ABA members have unlimited, complimentary access to more than 600 widely-accredited online CLE webinars and on-demand programs in the ABA’s Member Benefit Library – at no additional cost, with programs added each month.  They have trending CLE collections that bring together CLE and other legal resources on trending topics for the legal profession.    

The ABA provides a page dedicated to states with MCLE Rules Changes due to the COVID crisis.  Under today’s rules, members can fulfill their entire requirement with their free library.  CLE certificates are emailed to attendees immediately after the program with verified attendance and completion of the attendance certification affidavit.  And, they have made it easy to send a copy of certificates to an additional email address so that your MCLE department can keep track of credits.
